Enforcement activity is increasing. Regulatory reporting requirements are expanding. Regulators are placing greater emphasis on governance, accountability and the effectiveness of compliance controls. And looming over all of this is the Conduct of Financial Institutions (COFI) Bill, widely regarded as the most significant conduct-regulation reform facing South Africa’s financial services sector.
For financial institutions, keeping track of these developments is challenging enough. Understanding how they fit together – and what they may mean for future regulatory expectations – is more difficult still.
It is against this backdrop that Moonstone Compliance will host its annual Regulatory Update Webinar on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. The three-hour session is designed to help financial institutions, accountable institutions, and compliance professionals understand the latest regulatory developments, emerging supervisory trends, and the practical implications for their organisations.

Although COFI has yet to be enacted, it remains one of the most important developments on the regulatory horizon. The webinar’s main session will examine the Bill’s status, the key conduct themes emerging from the proposed framework, and the practical implications for financial institutions.
Attention will be given to outcomes-based regulation, governance and accountability, product oversight, customer outcomes, disclosure and transparency, and the potential impact of continuous disclosure obligations on client engagement.
But COFI is only part of the story.
The webinar will also provide a practical update on key developments from the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the Financial Intelligence Centre, enforcement activity, AML/CTF/CPF expectations, post-greylisting considerations, governance and accountability, and reporting obligations such as the Risk and Compliance Return.
The webinar will begin with a regulatory overview covering key FSCA and FIC developments since November 2025, recent enforcement activity, and the broader trends shaping regulatory expectations.
The webinar will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
The session is aimed at accountable institutions, financial services providers, key individuals, representatives, compliance officers, risk managers, governance professionals and others responsible for meeting regulatory and conduct obligations within their organisations.
The presenters will be Billy Seyffert and Marili Orffer.
