Making it easier for independent financial advisers to do business with the insurer and grow their practices will be a key focus for Morné Stoltz, who took up the position of head of Intermediary Distribution at Momentum Insure on 1 October 2026.

Stoltz’s appointment signals the insurer’s focus on strengthening its relationships with independent advisers, with technology expected to play a role in reducing administration and helping practices scale.

“Independent financial advisers are central to how we reach and serve our clients,” said Pieter Erasmus, executive head of sales and distribution at Momentum Insure.

“Morné understands distribution from the inside, from large direct operations to broker and hybrid models, and he knows how technology can help advisers spend more time with clients and less time on paperwork. That combination will be invaluable to our IFA partners,” Erasmus said.

Stoltz brings more than 23 years of experience across financial services, short-term insurance, telematics, and consumer technology. He returns to the insurance industry after working outside the sector for two years, most recently as sales director at solar energy company GoSolr.

Announcing his appointment on LinkedIn, he said he was “re-skilled, re-energised, and excited to contribute to the industry in a meaningful way”.

His previous roles include senior positions at MiWay, Netstar, AIG, and Telesure Investment Holdings.

Stoltz spent almost nine years at MiWay, where he held several leadership positions, including head of broker distribution and value-added products, head of business insurance, and executive head: sales and distribution. In the latter role, he oversaw product, sales, and distribution strategy across personal lines, business insurance, and value-added products, and led a team of 1 000 people.

He left MiWay in June 2024 to become executive head: consumer sales at Netstar, where he worked until March 2025. He subsequently joined GoSolr as sales director in April 2025, remaining there until August this year. Earlier in his career, he served as head of auto insurance South Africa at AIG and held management positions at Telesure, including responsibility for broker distribution and business insurance.

During his career, Stoltz has managed annual operating budgets exceeding R600 million.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Henley Business School, completed in 2019. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practices from Henley in 2017 and a Diploma in General Management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science in 2012.

Stoltz said technology, including artificial intelligence, could help advisers to reduce repetitive administrative work without compromising the relationships at the heart of financial advice.

“Advisers don’t build their businesses on admin. They build them on relationships and advice. The right technology, including AI-enabled workflows, can take the repetitive work off their desks, so practices can grow without having to add headcount at the same pace,” he said.

His priority, he said, would be to make it easier for IFAs to work with Momentum Insure and help them expand their practices more efficiently.
