– Tips for your clients

This week many universities and colleges re-opened and many students headed back to campus.

Marius Neethling, Underwriting Manager for Santam’s Personal Lines recently shared some expert advice on how parents should ensure that their children’s valuable are kept safe while they are they are on campus.

  • Students carry contents worth thousands of rands like textbooks, cell phones, iPads, laptops on a daily basis;
  • Some have vehicles given to them by their parents. A crucial question is whether the parents registered the child as a regular driver with their insurer?
  •  Some use bicycles which are mostly left outside while students are attending classes. What are some of the precautions students can take to keep their bicycles safe?

These are also questions that financial advisers should use as conversation themes with their clients.

It is always important that financial advisers review their client’s insurance needs regularly, because in every stage of life, coverage or the updating of coverage is a necessity.
