Training webinars for healthcare brokers in July and November

The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) will host two-day webinars for accredited healthcare brokers in July and November.

Attendees will be able to claim 7.5 CPD hours (approved by the Financial Planning Institute) provided they attend both days of the webinar and complete an assessment.

The webinars will cover the following topics:

  • Compliance requirements for financial services providers and understanding Board Notice 194 of 2017 (“Fit and proper requirements”);
  • The FAIS Act and the Code of Conduct for FSPs;
  • The Medical Schemes Act and accompanying regulations and recent court rulings and judgments;
  • Broker accreditation requirements, conduct and ethical behaviour;
  • An overview of the costs of health care and the prescribed minimum benefits; and
  • An update on the low-cost benefit option project.

There are two intakes for the webinars:

  • 25 to 26 July, followed by the assessment on 27 July; or
  • 7 to 8 November, followed by the assessment on 9 November.

The training will take place between 9am to 3.30pm.

The cost is R400 per delegate.

Use your full names, surname, and broker registration number as your reference number. Each participant must have a separate broker registration number.

Proof of payment must be sent to education@medicalschemes.co.za five days before the date of the training.

The agenda and the link for the webinar will only be sent to delegates who have paid for the training.
