With the 2026 academic year fast approaching, Moonstone Business School of Excellence (MBSE) is inviting aspiring and established financial professionals to get their qualifications and career plans in order. From 11 to 13 November, MBSE’s Virtual Open Days will provide an accessible, online opportunity to explore accredited qualifications, interact with lecturers, and discover practical study options for the year ahead.

The sessions are free and open to anyone interested in pursuing or advancing a career in finance, compliance, or financial advice. Whether you’re a matriculant planning your first step into higher education or an experienced professional looking to upskill, MBSE’s online open days are designed to help you make informed choices for 2026.

Each session includes detailed programme overviews, live Q&As with qualification co-ordinators, feedback from our alumni, and a virtual tour of MBSE’s interactive online learning environment.

Participants can register for one or more sessions, depending on their career interests.

Tailored pathways for financial services professionals

Each of MBSE’s qualifications is designed with a clear career outcome in mind:

Higher Certificate in Short-term Insurance (NQF 5)

Webinar: 11 November | 10am – 11am

Ideal for matriculants or professionals in insurance, this qualification opens pathways to roles such as broker, underwriter, or claims adjuster. It is approved by the FSCA for FAIS Fit and Proper purposes and meets the education requirement for the IISA Licentiateship (LIISA) designation.

Higher Certificate in Wealth Management (NQF 5)

Webinar: 11 November | 1.30pm – 2.30pm

Recognised by the FSCA for FAIS purposes, this course is a key stepping stone to the REGISTERED FINANCIAL PRACTITIONER® (RFP®) designation from the FPI. It provides the foundational knowledge needed for careers in financial advice and wealth management.

Advanced Certificate in Financial Planning (NQF 6)

Webinar: 12 November | 10am – 11am

This qualification deepens understanding of taxation, legislation, and financial planning principles. It’s approved for FAIS purposes and aligned with the FINANCIAL SERVICES ADVISOR® (FSA®) designation. Graduates can also access MBSE’s Recognition of Prior Learning pathway to the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning.

Occupational Certificate: Compliance Officer (NQF 6)

Webinar: 12 November | 1.30pm – 2.30pm

Prepares students for in-demand roles in compliance, risk management, and regulatory affairs. It’s suited to both current professionals and those aiming to enter this expanding field.

Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (NQF 8)

Webinar: 13 November | 1.30pm – 2.30pm

This advanced qualification meets the FPI’s underlying education requirement and prepares graduates to apply for the CFP® Capstone Course and Financial Plan Assessment – key steps toward earning the prestigious CFP® designation.

A growing pathway: BCom in Financial Management

MBSE’s new Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Financial Management (NQF 7) adds further depth to its qualification suite, bridging undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Webinar: 13 November | 10am – 11am

Launched earlier this year, the BCom blends financial theory, ethical principles, and digital workplace readiness across its curriculum. According to Monique Brummer, operations manager at MBSE, the qualification was created to meet the evolving needs of both employers and students.

“We teach the theory but also show students how to apply it using real-world tools,” Brummer said. “Our aim is to ensure our graduates are as employable as possible.”

Fully accredited for online delivery, the BCom offers flexibility for both full-time students and working professionals. It also aligns with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) framework, ensuring its content meets international business standards.

Flexible, accessible online learning

With more than a decade of experience in online education, MBSE has built a supportive and engaging digital environment. Students benefit from:

  • Regular live sessions, from orientation to exam preparation.
  • Direct access to lecturers during office hours.
  • On-demand tutorial and explainer videos for complex topics.
  • Flexible full-time or part-time study options.

Brummer emphasised MBSE’s student-centred approach: “We offer as much flexibility as possible while still providing a strong support structure.”

Invest in your professional future

As South Africa’s financial services landscape continues to evolve, MBSE’s Virtual Open Days provide an ideal opportunity to explore qualifications that support compliance, competence, and career growth.

Whether you’re taking your first step into finance or preparing to advance toward a professional designation, MBSE offers a qualification to match your ambitions.
