Work Your Plan

The huge spike in registrations of candidates for the final date of 30 June 2014 merely confirms the tendency to leave writing the REs to the last minute. It is almost as if some people pray for an extension, rather than get it behind them.

Those whose final date for successfully completing the regulatory exams is 30 June 2015 should at all costs try and avoid falling into this trap. The positive spin-off is of course that, by writing when you are ready, rather than when you have your back against the wall, removes a serious amount of unnecessary stress from your life.

Ask your training service provider to help you draw up a schedule and stick to it. This applies particularly to those working under supervision, and who are required to complete the RE before they are allowed to operate on their own.

We learnt from Inseta that there is still space for candidates who wish to attend their 3-day preparation workshops in July. Please click here to access the invitation which provides details of the workshops, and access to the registration page.

Study Material

Click here to download the Inseta RE 1 (key individual) and RE 5 (representative) preparation material.

There are two other resources which we are aware of that now contains the updated legislation contained in questions from the middle of February.

  • LexisNexis provides a “Legislation Handbook” together with a “Preparation Guide” containing the qualifying criteria, with a link to the relevant legislation.
  • Juta’s updated FAIS Pocket Statutes also contains a CD with a comprehensive list of updated legislative material for reference purposes.
