Online learning – The new normal

Posted on

We have now entered an era where online education is the new norm. Over the last few weeks many of us have been seeking out possible online resources, not just to improve our education, but as financial advisers to stay on track with the fit and proper qualification requirements of the financial services industry.

We are all aware that failure to comply with fit and proper requirements within set timelines may lead to debarment, an action that will prevent an individual from rendering financial services and functioning as a representative. Although the FSCA has announced several extensions as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s still advisable to rather stay ahead of the game and pursue online opportunities.

It is important that the industry, in line with regulatory expectations, changes its attitude from a “compulsory compliance” approach to one which sees us doing things because it is the right thing to do. Training, be it product specific or continuous professional enhancement, is a way to “sharpen the saw”, in Seven Habits speak. Being able to do so online is actually a great blessing, and an opportunity that should be grabbed with both hands, particularly in these times.

The Moonstone Business School of Excellence (MBSE), an accredited training provider, offers various qualifications en route to various financial planning designations. Visit the MBSE website for more information about CPD, COB and other financial qualifications.
