Mark Bechard caught up with Timur Turlov shortly before the opening ceremony of the African Continental Stage of the twenty-twenty-six World Schools Team Chess Championship. Turlov is not simply a visiting businessman with an interest in chess. He is president of the International School Chess Federation and president of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, and he played a role in the development of the World Schools Team Championship itself.
